Imphal: Manipur police nabbed a drug peddler while conducting frisking and checking near Martyrs Park in Senapati district on Friday evening.
A team of police were on duty about 2 km South from the police station. One white Hyundai i20 bearing registration number AS01DH-8656 was seen coming from Senapati side towards Nagaland. The vehicle was stopped for frisking and checking. On checking the vehicle, suspected Brown sugar was found concealed below the seats of the driver and co-driver.
The vehicle was thoroughly checked in the presence of executive magistrate Ch. Neli and in the presence of the driver D. Datho, 27, son of Dahrii of Phaibung Khunou village, Senapati the vehicle was thoroughly checked.
Fifty soap cases containing 649 gm of Brown Sugar were found concealed below the seats of the driver and co-driver of the vehicle.
The driver was formerly arrested at 6:20 pm by observing formalities, a police report said. Further investigation is underway, it added.
