Immediately stop recruitment of MTS, RIMS: Bijoy

Imphal: Recruitment process for appointing 134 post of multi-tasking staffs of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) prioritising to Kuki Separatist must be stopped immediately, said socio political commentato, Chongtham Bijoy.

Bijoy was talking to reporters at his Lamphel residence on Thursday.

He said a recruitment notification for direct appointment of 134 post of multi-tasking staffs (MTS) of RIMS was notified on January 16, 2016.

During the process over 18,000 applicants submitted applications by paying a charge of Rs 200 each and the RIMS authority collected a total sum of around Rs 36 lakh from the applicants.

On February 2016, the RIMS authority issued admit cards of the recruitment and in the admit card it was mentioned clearly “To be produced at the time of interview”, which means there will be interview in the recruitment, he added.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced earlier that there will be no interview while recruiting employees of grade III and IV.

By sidelining the announcement of Prime Minister’s statement to skip interview for appointment of employees of grade III and IV, the authority conducted skill test/ aptitude test and four candidates under PWD category has selected from the total post of 134. After that several notifications were issued by the RIMS authority for the same recruitment. However everytime, the recruitment got suspended before its completion, he added.

Bijoy questioned why the RIMS authority is not able to conduct the recruitment since 2016. If the authority fails to complete the recruitment process then why cannot the authority issued a fresh recruitment notification so that educated and qualified displaced people who are staying in various relief camps can appear.

Recently, for recruitment of 130 post of MTS, present director of RIMS, G. Sunil Kumar issued an advertisement mentioning that written test for the recruitment will be conducted on November 12.

Surprisingly, the RIMS authority provided option in examination centres that included Imphal and Guwahati. Providing separate centres for written examination at this unrest can bring more tension among the people of Manipur, Bijoy said.

There is an apprehension that Kuki community might demand for a branch for RIMS at Churachandpur and there is suspicion that RIMS authority is helping the demand of Kuki, he added.

The recruitment should be stopped immediately as it could encourage the demand of separate administration within the state of Manipur, Bijoy said.
