Yet another recovery of arms, ammos, bombs in Manipur

Imphal: In another operation in Manipur by security forces on Tuesday large number of arms, explosives and ammunitions were recovered from Kakching district.

Based on a reliable information, a search operation was conducted  at the general area of Wangoo Laiphum by a combined team of Kakching police commando, VDF personnel of Kakching, personnel of MPTO, Wangoo Police station, teams of D-Coy 136 BSF and B-Coy 167 BSF conducted search operation, a police report said.

The operation started at 3:30 am and concluded at 7:30 hrs. During the operation, houses of Wangoo Laipham Chingya were searched thoroughly and suspected areas of Wangoo laipham manya hill range were sanitized, a police report said.

During the search operation the arms, ammunition and the explosives were recovered from the hill range at Wangoo Laipham Mangya near cemetry.

The recovered weapons were one Ak 47, five SLRs, one .303 rifle (modified), one insas rifle, three .303 rifles, two SBBLs, 11 HE grenades, one Chinese hand grenade, three number of WP Gren MK I, 15 grenade launching tubes, small amount of suspected pek alongwith fuse, six detonators, two detonator boxes, six ballistic catridges, three empty cases of 12 Bore, one Bullet Proof vest, two walkie talkies (Baofeng), one empty AK -47 magazine, one empty Insas rifle magazine, four empty .303 rifle magazine, five empty SLR rifle magazines, one local made pipe bomb and suspected local made bomb with fuse.

The recovered items were seized from the spot and handed over to Wangoo Police station for further necessary action, the police report said.
