42 tonnes areca nuts seized in Manipur

Imphal: ​Assam Rifles foiled a major smuggling attempt on Monday when around 42 tonnes of areca nuts valued at approximately Rs 16.80 crores loaded in six trucks were seized

Six individuals, drivers have been apprehended, in general area Chandrakhong of Thoubal district.

The apprehended individuals along with the seized items and vehicles were handed over to Forest department Maya Keithal, Thoubal district for further legal proceedings.

The Assam Rifles did not disclose the identity of the apprehended persons.
