‘Revoke Article 355 from Manipur, give full power to CM’

Imphal: Revoke Article 355 if there is anything as such imposed in Manipur and restore full command of the Unified Command to chief minister N.Biren Singh as it would re establish full confidence and trust to the government in dealing with the situation.

BJP Manipur Pradesh made this demand through a letter written to BJP national president JP Nadda.

Stating that the party chief is aware that the current unrest has almost cross five months sinc May 3, the BJP Manipur Pradesh said the general public in particular is facing acute difficulties. Public anger and protest is now slowly turning the tide.

It asked to help to immediately restore free flow of traffic along the two national highways of which the Centre and the state should use all possible efforts to maintain the traffic even to the extent of using coercive means such as arresting those unwanted elements who are now trying to create trouble along this highway immediately.

Another demand was immediate Re-settlement and Re-habilitation of all the displaced persons at their original place of residence as soon as possible and also to see that they get whatever that has been promise by the government in terms of compensation for the lost houses and ex-gratia for the injured and deceased persons.

Effective implementation of the SoO (Suspension of Operations) Ground Rules and any violation of this Rules will considered as an act of terrorism and should be dealt as accordingly by both Center and state to the extent that whoever violates this GR should be treated as terrorist, the letter mentioned.

The state unit also urged to see that all possible help and support to release Moirangthem Anand Singh by the NIA in connection with the recent crisis in the state.

It urged to completely destroy all poppy plantations in the state and for this to establish a joint monitoring committee for constant vigilance watch where the members should include representatives from the civil societies organsiations.

Another appeal was to apprise the ministry of Home Affairs for the early completicn of the campaign for biometric capture of illegal Myanmar’s immigrants so as to enable in early implementation of NRC (National Registrar of Citizenship) in the state.

It was also appealed to persuade Prime Minister to give an appointment to the joint MLA’s team who are now holding up in New Delhi for the sake of the people of Manipur.
