Outraged agitators set ablaze BJP office in Manipur, 2 out of 125 injured students recieve multiple bullet injury

Imphal: Demonstrators, outraged upon the murder of two teens allegedly by Kuki in arms, which pictures went viral on social media, have set ablaze the BJP office at Khongjom in Thoubal district of Manipur on Wednesday, while students stormed towards chief minister’s secretariat demanding quick justice.

A mass of demonstrators in Thoubal also stormed at the DC office complex and hurled petrol bombs.

The police personnel at Thoubal instead of harassing them, cooled down the agitators by serving water with love and care. People appreciated the police there.

In the Imphal city, at least 125 agitating students were injured. Two sustained with multiple bullet injuries in security forces action against agitators.

The demonstrators demanded to nab the culprits involved in the execution of two students who had been missing for nearly 3 months.

Students from different schools and colleges including Manipur University came on streets to demonstrate protest condemning the heinous crimes.

Two students, L. Kisan of Yairipok and Bishwanath Meitram of Samurou sustained multiple bullet injury on right shoulder and head respectively. Among the injured, six students including the two multiple bullet injury were admitted at Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Langol; 40 injured students were admitted at RIMS, Lamphel; 26 injured students at Raj Medicity and 50 injured at New Advance Hospital, Palace Compound.

It is reported most of the students who were admitted at different hospital were due to suffocation from tear gas shells except for the two who sustained multiple bullet injury. Most of the students were discharged after giving first aid however, the two students admitted at Shija Hospital after sustaining multiple bullet injury were undergoing treatment.

A team of 30 students as representatives were allowed to meet chief minister. They reported that the meeting with chief minister was not fruitful.

Chief minister Biren Singh told them that the government might find the bodies in 15 days but not sure.

JAT regiment nab 5 students protestors while evacuating injured protestors at an ambulance van at Moirangkhom. In a video that went viral showed that some JAT regiment jawans brutally assaulted a student protestor with their batons after the student was dragged out on street.

With multiple injuries among the student protestors and with unfruitful meeting with CM situation was escalated after locals of Moirangkhom join the protest. The protestors started attacking the combined security forces with slingshots and stones.

Protestors started burning tyres and blocked the Indo-Myanmar highway by burning tyres and putting wooden logs including unused electric polls.

Firing of tear gas shells, mock bombs, live bullets continued till late evening while the protestors retaliated with slingshots and stones.
