Imphal: Manipur government has announced to close all schools in Manipur following students agitation demanding justice to the alleged murder of a girl and a boy belonging to Meitei by Kuki during violence in the state.
The department of Education (schools) on Tuesday made the announcement to close all schools on September 27 and 29. September 28 is a holiday.
The school closure order was issued ‘in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the state’.
The information of the death of the two Meitei youths who had been missing since July 6 in the violence have sparked anger to the school students in Manipur. Pictures of the duo including a picture with militants in arms went viral on social media on Monday.
