Imphal: District magistrates of Imphal East and Imphal West have issued order of extension of curfew hours from closing time 6pm to 9pm on Thursday.
The district magistrates had issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 for restriction of the movement of any person outside their respective residences since September 2 and until further orders.
“Due to the developing of law and orders in the district, there is need to relax the restriction of movement to facilitate general public to purchase the essential items including medicines and food items,” the Imphal West district order said.
Restriction of movement of general public outside their residences is lifted for September 14 (Thursday) from 5 am to 9pm for all areas of Imphal West district. This relaxation shall not include any gathering, sit-in-protest, rally etc. without obtaining approval through competent authority, it added.
However, movement of persons belonging to essential services such as Health, Electricity, PHED, Petrol Pumps, Schools/Colleges, Municipality, Press and Electronic media, functioning of Courts and to and fro movement of flight passengers to airport shall be exempted from the imposition of curfew, it said.
