Imphal: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (Cocomi) has declared to push back the central forces’ barricade at Phougakchao Ikhai in Bishnupur district to Torbung Wangma on Wednesday.
Media coordinator of the committee Somorendro Thokchom on Monday made the declaration at Cocomi office, here.
He said an ultimatum had been issued with August 30 as the deadline for the army barricade to be moved from Phougakchao Ikhai to Torbung Wangma.
As the authority sought some few days for shifting the barricade. As the authority fails to fulfill its commitment Cocomi took the decision to push back the barricade with the help of people, Somorendro said.
Responsibility for any outcome in pushing away the barricade should be borne by the state and central governments, he added.
He appeals the people of the state to actively support the initiative.
On the same note Women Wing of Cocomi on Tuesday urged the people to join hands as one to start removing the barricade at 11 am of Wednesday.
It’s assistance coordinator RK Tharaksana said due the barricades the Kuki rebels take advantages in attacking the villagers as if the central forces take sides of the Kuki.
She appeals the people to leave behind daily duties behind on this day and join the movement.
