Imphal: Security forces recovered arms and ammunitions during search operations conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Thoubal, Imphal-East, Imphal-West, Kakching and Churachandpur districts.
One arm and one explosive were recovered from Thoubal district, and five arms, seven Pumpi guns and 10 ammunitions were recovered from Churachandpur district.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the dtate was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors, Manipur Police Control Room said on Monday.
Movement of 314 vehicles along NH-37 and 174 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it said.
A total of 133 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur. Police detained 1512 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, the police control room said.

The police department appeals to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
