3 Kangpokpi residents arrested in Assam for Robbery

Imphal: Three persons from Manipur’s Kangpokpi district were arrested on Friday in Assam on Robbery cases across the Cachar district and other regions of Barak Valley.

The robbers were identified as Dimngel Lalboi Michael, son of D. Paohao, Paojalen Dimngel, son of D. Paohao, and Thangboi Dimngel, hailing from Saijong, PS- Saikul, Kangpokpi, Manipur.

The law enforcement authorities in the Cachar district acted swiftly on a credible tip-off in the evening leading to the apprehension of the three individuals allegedly involved in multiple robbery cases.

The police seized a cache of firearms and a vehicle believed to be associated with their criminal activities.

The recovered items include one 9mm pistol along with 15 rounds of ammunition, one .22 pistol along with 50 rounds of ammunition, a Creta vehicle bearing Registration Number MZ-01R-0012, which the robbers reportedly used during their alleged robbery spree.

The detained individuals revealed that they had also been involved in a recent robbery at a hardware shop located in Sonabarighat, Silchar. They disclosed that they had been residing at the Kolasib Relief Camp following the ethnic problems in Manipur and would travel from the camp to commit robberies before returning.

Questioning of the arrested individuals was ongoing on, to uncover their involvement in past crimes and any potential links to other criminal networks, a source said.
