22 Manipur MLAs urge Amit Shah for urgent action over killing of 2 students

Imphal: A total of 22 MLAs out of 60 MLAs of Manipur has pressed Union Home minister Amit Shah to take up urgent necessary action by CBI against guilty persons involved in the killing of two students in Manipur.

The MLAs in a letter written to Amit Shah on Tuesday said photos of two murdered students, Phijam Hemjit, 20, and Hijam Linthoingambi, 17, who have been missing since July have surfaced on social media which had led to widespread unrest and violence in the state.

The state government had handed over the case to the CBI for further investigation in July.

The MLAs requested Amit Shah that the CBI be directed to take up urgent expeditious action so that the guilty culprits are brought to book and justice is served at the earliest, as was similarly done earlier in the viral video casip of Nongpok Sekmai that occurred on May 4.
