Arms, bombs recovered in Manipur

Imphal: Security forces have recovered five arms, seven ammunitions and six bombs from Imphal-East and Imphal-West districts of Manipur, on Tuesday.

Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-East, Imphal-West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi and Tamenglong districts.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was tense with sporadic incidents of congregation of protestors, Manipur Police Control Room said on Tuesday.

A total of 126 Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and police detained 1307 persons in connection with violations.

Movement of 124 vehicles along NH-37 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, the police control room said.
