Imphal: Weightlifting icon Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, through a video on social media, urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah to restore peace in Manipur.
The 27-year old Manipur denizen, in the video message, said many sports persons could not participate in the training camps and students are largely disturbed, many have lost their lives many homes have been set ablaze due to the nearly 3 months ethnic conflict in her home state Manipur.
She said she is in the US right preparing and training for the upcoming World Championships and the Asian Games. “I’m not in Manipur, yet I worry when this unrest would end.”
