Manipur governor urges tribal forum to work to shun violence

Imphal: Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey has urged a team of Manipur Tribals Forum, Delhi to hold a dialogue with their leaders and people to shun the present communal violence and come forward for talks.

Only a meaningful dialogue can bring about logical conclusion of all impending issues which will bring back peace and also there will be an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect which is the key to bring back normalcy in the state of Manipur, the governor told the tribal forum team.

The team led by its Convenor, Vumsuan Naulak along with seven other members called on Anusuiya Uikey in New Delhi on Tuesday and apprised of the prevailing deteriorating situation in the state following the communal clash which was erupted between two communities in May, this year. 

The team expressed their concerns about the prevailing situation stating that all possible efforts should be made to stop violence in the state. It thanked the governor for her initiatives to restore peace and urged to take all possible efforts for bringing peace and normalcy in the state. She heard their concerns and assured them that all out efforts will be made to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
