Imphal: Situation is tense in some places with sporadic incidents of firing, a case of arson and congregation of unruly mob during the last 24 hours, Manipur Police Control Room said on Saturday.
During the 24 hours, the security forces conducted search operations in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both valley and hill districts.
A total of 16 bunkers were destroyed and two arms were recovered during the operations.
During the last 24 hours, intermittent firing by armed miscreants were reported at few places, Manipur Police Control Room said.
It said the security forces launched operation in these areas and the miscreants were repelled.
On Friday, two individuals sustained pellet injury on their bodies when one individual fired from his double barrel at Khoyathong Polem Leikai. The absconding accused person was arrested on this day from Yairipok Malom, Thoubal district.
Three empty trucks were intercepted by a mob from the IVR between Sekmai LPG Bottling Plant and NH-02 and set on fire at Awang Sekmai Mayai Leikai Lampak in the morning.
Security forces dispersed the mob and fire tenders prevented from further damage. Raids were conducted and many persons have been detained for further verification, the police control room said.
A total of 126 sheckpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and police had detained 628 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it added.
