Manipur crisis: Commission of Inquiry chairperson visits Churachandpur

Imphal: Justice Ajai Lamba, chairperson of Commission of Inquiry on Friday visited Churachandpur district; interacted with inmates at relief camps, and with the general public and CSOs.

The 3-member Commission of Inquiry was appointed by the Centre to probe the ethnic violence in Manipur that has crossed 70 days.

Himanshu Shekhar Das, IAS (Retd) and Aloka Prabhakar, IPS (Retd) were the two members.

Ajai Lamba reached Churachandpur by chopper at 36 AR Helipad, at around 10:30 am.

He, accompanied by the deputy commissioner Dharun Kumar, superintendent of police Karthik Malladi and other line officers, proceeded to Salt Brook School where about 118 internally displaced persons are sheltered.

The chairperson later visited St. Mary Higher Secondary School where about 175 displaced persons are sheltered.

He explained to the inmates the mandates of the commission.

He also interacted with the general public and CSOs and other stake holders at 36 AR.
