Gunshot injures two in Imphal

Imphal: Two persons were injured at a chicken shop, a few metres away from MLA Joykisan’s residence, at Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Imphal West on Friday when miscreants fired towards the shop.

The incident occurred, amid tension of ethnic crisis, at around 5.40 pm at the chicken shop ‘Fresh Chicken Centre’.

The injured persons were identified as one Potshangbam Sanaton, 37, son of P. Lokendro of Keishamthong Top Leirak, Imphal West and Amabas Yadav, 48, son of late Raghunath Yadav of Bihar presently staying at a rented house located at Thangmeiband Polem Leikai.

It is reported that Sanaton is working in a private bank and he came to collect money from the shop while Amabas was in front of the shop to buy chicken.

The owner of the shop told reporters that, while he was engaging to give money to Sanaton, he heard a gunshot and when he went out of the shop the two were on the ground.

He and his staff did not see from where the miscreants came and took the shot.

Sanaton received bullet injury at his butt and Amabas at his back and butt.

The injured persons were rushed to RIMS hospital immediately. The are out of danger, said the medical practioners there.
