Cops rescue woman from kidnappers

Imphal: Manipur police on Saturday rescued a woman from kidnappers at Sora police out post, Kakching district.

The woman, identified as Akoijam Sucheta Devi, 51, wife of Sorokhaibam Nabachandra Singh of Charangpat Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district, was rescued when Thoubal district police teams acted on a complaint made by one Laishram Anita Chanu, 43, of Nongpok Sekmal to Nongpok Sekmai police station stating that at around 10: 30 am that Sucheta (who is one of complainant’s staff) was kidnapped by some unknown persons from Aripat Nongpok Sekmai. They were coming in a grey Maruti Van bearing no registration number and threatened to drop them upto Pallel. 

After receiving the information, combined teams of District Police Thoubal rushed to the areas and conducted frisking and checking and also informed Control Room District Police Kakching so as to recue the victim, superintendent of police Sachindananda Singh said.

At around 11: 30 am the lady was intercepted at Sora police out post, Kakching district. 

The unknown miscreants fled to an unknown direction. A regular case has been registered at Nongpok Sekmai police station for further investation, the senior police officer said.
