Adulterated alcohol– liver infection factor in Manipur: Dr Ranjan

Imphal: Consumption of adulterated alcohols is one of the factors for causing liver infection in the state and the ill effects of adulterated alcohols should be understood by alcohol users. 

Health Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan said this on World Hepatitis Day observation held at Hotel Classic Grande, here on Friday.

Liver is one of the most important organs of a person. The government is also planning to prepare a data of liver cirrhosis patients in the state. Awareness on Hepatitis is also required through which the disease may be controlled, the minister said.

The World Hepatitis Day, 2023 was jointly organised by the National Health Mission, Manipur and Directorate of Health Services, Manipur. “One Life One Liver” was the theme of this year’s observance.

Ranjan Singh said the government has set its sustainable development goal to eradicate Hepatitis by 2030. Every health professional and staff need to shoulder responsibility and extend mutual coordination to achieve the target. All need to work with full commitment. Different departments in health sector should coordinate one another. 

The role of health professionals during the present period was also appreciated by the minister.
