Imphal: Manipur Police apprehended two persons who were ferrying 220 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor from Ngairangbam Makha Leikai on Thursday morning.
A state police team, on receipt of an information regarding movement of suppliers of DIC Liquor from Tairenpokpi towards Maklang Ngairangbam IVR in car, rushed to the area and searched of the suspects. During the search the team stopped and detained one Maruti Alto Car bearing registration number WB06E6821 for checking at Ngairangbam Makha Leikai IVR which was coming towards Khumbong Bazar.
In that the driver identified himself as one Yumlembam Ramesh Singh, 38, son of late Y. Ningthoujao Singh of Sekmai Bazar and co-occupant as one Angom Manisana Singh, 45, son of late A. Maipak Singh of Nongthanban of Sekmai.
The police on spot checking the car found 100 litres of DIC Liquor in 10 plastic polythene packets containing 20 half-litre plastic bottles each and 120 litres of DIC Liquor in 12 plastic polythene packets containing 10 one-litre plastic bottles each.
The involved persons were apprehended and seized the DIC Liquors alongwith the vehicle and brought to concern police station for further formality and handing over to excise department, a police source said.
