Imphal: Tengnoupal battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling of contraband in two separate operations in Tengnoupal on Wednesday.
During routine checking at Khudengthabi Check Post, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle ferrying contraband and recovered betel nuts, foreign liquor and cigarettes worth Rs 8.58 lakh, the Assam Rifles said.
In another operation, troops of Assam Rifles recovered contraband worth Rs 3.96 lakh near Kwatha in Tengnoupal district.
The seized contraband along with two smugglers were handed over to Custom Prevention Force, Moreh for further legal action, the Assam Rifles said.
