Imphal: A 50 years old person who was administered 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine died on Sunday and the cause of death was uncertain.
The family members said the cause of death might be due to Covid-19 vaccination and urged the government to take necessary steps to find out the cause of death.
The deceased has been identified as one Phanjiubam Bheigo, 50, son of Phanjoubam Bira of Andro Mamang Lekai.
According to family members of the deceased Bheigo took 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine on August 3. On the next he got some mild symptoms of vaccination with mild fever, body ache and others, however he took paracetamol like other people after vaccination.
His health condition was getting better and on Sunday morning he did some domestic work and after having food he went to sleep as he complaint that he is unwell. In the evening he did not response when one of the family member called him.
He was carried to Andro primary health centre, however after monitoring his health condition he was referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat.
As there were no vacant bed at JNIMS he was taken to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Lamphel on the same day.
Bheigo was admitted to RIMS casualty. The doctor there told the family members that he was brought death.
The body was admitted at JNIMS morgue for autopsy. After conducting autopsy on Monday the body was handed over to the family members for his last rite.
One of the family members told reporters that the cause of death was suspicious and might be due to vaccination. Bheigo was a healthy person and he did not have any chronic disease.
He used to have alcohol. As advised he did not take alcohol since the day of vaccination, the family member said.
