Imphal: Chief spokesperson of State Bharatiya Janata Party, Ch. Bijoy tendered his resignation from the post and announced as intending candidate from Uripok assembly constituency for the coming Assembly election to be held next year.
Bijoy said in his resignation letter he intends to contest in the coming assembly election from 10 Uripok Constituency.
“I want to be more focus on the campaign and is in the spirit of our party’s tradition of stepping down from any party post if someone intends to contest in the election,” he said.
He said in a video clip issued to press that the motives for announcing himself as intending candidate for the upcoming election is to root out corruption which is one of the main agenda of BJP party.
He said the elected person should take advantage for their own benefit instead should help the people of their respective assembly constituency.
Elected representatives of each Assembly Constituency should avoid greediness, selfishness and from being corrupted, he added.
In order to set an example to the new intending candidates of the coming general assembly election he tendered his resignation and announced as intending candidate for Uripok assembly constituency, Bijoy said.
