Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh extended his message to all doctors in the state on the occasion of National Doctor’s Day celebrated under the theme “Save The Saviours”.
The day is celebrated across the Country on July 1 every year to mark the birth and death anniversary of the renowned physician and the second chief minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy and to show gratitude to all doctors for selfless work and dedication towards serving humanity.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, this day holds a special significance considering the fact how our doctors and physicians work round the clock to help the state fight the health chsis. Doctors have been facing hard times during the pandemic, trapped in the uncomfortable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for hours every day, treating Covid and non-Covid patients and giving online consultation strengthening hope and faith, Biren said.
They forget their own fears and pain while healing patients, putting their own lives at risk with selfless determination while also cutting themselves off from their families and loved ones for days together, he added.
“During this long fight, our country has lost over 1,500 doctors to the pandemic. Today, let us resolve to make their task easier by keeping oneself safe from the pandemic. Let us resolve to provide them a safe environment to enable them to deliver the services expected from the medical fraternity,” Biren said.
“On National Doctor’s Day today, I join the people of Manipur in expressing our sincere gratitude to all doctors. May God give them more strength to enable them to continue rendering their invaluable services,” he added.
