Imphal: Kangpokpi Police of Manipur on Sunday apprehended a person involved in double murder cases occurred at Lhungtin village.
The accused identified as Lenjagin alias Jovy Hangshing, 37, son of Helpao Hangshing of Khomunnom village was arrested from his hideout in the jungle near Makokching village under Saikul Police station on Saturday.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh has congratulated the ‘Kangpokpi Police superintendent and his team’ for arresting the accused highlighting the information on his Facebook page.
At his instance, arms and ammunitions were recovered from the jungle near Khomunnom village buried inside the earth covered with polythene bags:
The recovered arms and ammunitions were HK 416D assault rifle (1), HK 416D assault rifle magazine (1), HK 416D assault rifle live rounds (12), 4. M-16A1 assault rifle (1), M-16A1 assault rifle magazine (1) and M-16A1 assault rifle live rounds (10).
The accused and the seized items were handed over to Saikul Police station for further legal action.
