Imphal: As a part of celebration of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2021, the department of social welfare organised various online programmes and competitions, starting frorn June 29 on the theme of the year “Share the facts on Drugs, Save Lives”.
The programme is also a part of the “Audi ka Amrit Mahotsav”- celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence. The main programmes of the year were Two Days Online Training Programme on Empowering the Youth on Prevention of Drug Use for Local Clubs/Organisations on June 25 and 26; Online Photography contest on the theme of the year; Online Painting Competition on the theme of the year; Online Selfie contest with caption; and 3-minute story telling for street-based drug user on the therne “How I landed in Imphal City as a drug user”
The result of all the online competition has been declared. Aso part of the observation on Saturday gifts like clothing were also distributed to inmates of the designated detoxification and treatment camps for sheet based drug users organised at Devine Light Rehabilitation Centre, Canchipur, Imphal, Sneha Bhavan, Sangaiprou, Imphal and Yakairakpa De-addiction Centre, Meitei Langol Type-2, Imphal.
These de-addiction camps were organised in co-ordination with Federation of Indian NGO on Drug Abuse Prevention-Manipur Chapter and Drug Users Federation for Human Rights and Justice, Imphal.
The day was also observed in all the integrated rehabilitation centre for addicts and private run de-addiction centre.
