Imphal: Tribal affairs and hills minister Vungzagin Valte chaired a meeting at Tuibong with district administration and Church leaders of Churachandpur on Monday to review the Covid-19 relation situation in the district.
Chief medical officer Dr VC Pau briefed the participants of the present Covid-19 situation as well as Covid Care centres and Community Home Isolation centres in the district.
Acknowledging the commendable services rendered by frontline workers like doctors, nurses, paramedics, police etc. in combating Covid-19 pandemic, the minister urged the Church leaders to lend a helping hand to the district administration by providing human resources, infrastructure resources and educating the people through the church. “Let us rise above our political differences in the interest of the people. We need to come together. We need to unite as a human being” Valte said.
The church leaders expressed their willingness to wholeheartedly work with the government agencies to fight the Covid-19 pandemic together. They agreed to assist the Covid-19 management by providing spaces for setting up Covid Care centres in the existing Sunday School buildings, provide volunteers as support staff and in dissemination of Covid-19 appropriate information to its members.
The meeting decided that funeral related gathering or condolence programes should be held as per the guideline and Covid-19 relalated instructions with proper intimation to the district administration or SDO concerned for effective enforcement of Covid-19 SoP.
The minister also inspected the oxygen plant site at Churachandpur District Hospital.
The trial run for this PSA oxygen plant has been successfully completed and will become fully functional within a short period of time, Pau said.
While visiting the oxygen plant, the minister inspected a new site for installation of a new PSA oxygen plant which will produce 200 cylinders per day, an official statement said.
