World Heritage Day discusses Koubru significance

Imphal: The mount Koubru range is the unseparable place of Manipuri civilisation, no one cannot claim the hill range for a community, cultural activist reknown film maker Dr. Makhomani Mongsaba said at the observance of World Heritage Day at Kawkeithel Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai, here.

The heritage day was organised by Cultural Workers and Activists Forum Manipur on Sunday.

The Meitei puyas have clearly writen the significance of the Koubru range, Makhomani said.

“If we keep negelecting our hill ranges, historical places, monuments, Manipuri civilisation future will be in stake,” he cautioned.

Manipur has lost beautiful traditions, costoms, flora, faonas, flowers, lakes which are part and percel of Manipuri civilisation he added.

Commissioner, art and culture Manipur, M. Joy stressed on the need to check the fast changing culture in Manipuri society today.

He lauded the initiatative taken uo by Cultural Workers and Activist Forum Manipur.

Chairman, Cultural Workers and Activist Forum Manipur, Budha Chingtham expressed anguish about the fast degrading cultural values in the state.

He informed that the Forum is in process to affiliate to UNESSCO.
