Manipur government warns air agencies against ferrying passengers without negative Covid-19 test reports

Imphal: The Manipur government warned airport authorities and airline services against carrying of passengers without negative Covid-19 test report.

The Manipur government on April 15 issued an order mandating that persons coming from outside the state should produce negative Covid-19 test reports taken 72 hours before arrival in Manipur. The mandatory became effective from April 18.

Directorate of health services cautioned that penalties will be imposed if they fail to strictly comply with the government order.

It issued the warning, on Monday, addressed to the director of Airport Authority of India, Imphal Airport, station manager of Air India, Imphal Airport, airport manager, Indigo Airlines and airport manager of Air Asia, Imphal Airport.

The warning notice stated that 269 passengers out of a total of 1,102 passengers arrived at Imphal airport on Sunday via Air India, Air Asia and Indigo flights without the prescribed Covid-19 tests reports which is clear noncompliance of the government order.

On Monday, six air passengers were found positive for Covid-19. Cumulative number of Covid positive air passengers tested at Imphal airport has reached 69.
