Erabot inducted as MLA

Imphal: Yumkham Erabot, who stood at second place in 2017 Manipur state Assembly elections, sworn in as MLA of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency on Wednesday.

Speaker Y. Khemchand administered the oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony held at Manipur Legislative Assembly secretariat, here.

“Hardly one year is left. I will do whatever I can for my people in the Constituency as well as for Manipur,” Erabot said.

“There is one more BJP MLA and I convey my best wishes,” chief minister N. Biren Singh said.

Henry resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP. He was made social welfare minister during the cabinet reshuffle of the Biren-led government in September 2020.

Henry provided different educational qualifications during the submission of nomination papers in 2012 and 2017 assembly election. In 2012 he submitted that his highest educational qualification as BA from Punjab University and in 2017 he furnished his qualification as Class XII passed from Manipur Public School, CBSE.

This was the second time to disqualify a Congress MLA for furnishing incorrect information during election process.
