Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has instructed deputy commissioners (DCs) of the state to be prepared for possible Covid-19 predicament coming in the next two months.
Biren gave the instructions during a video conference with DCs of different districts on Covid-19 situation.
The meeting was held in wake of recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the state.
The chief minister mainly enquired the DCs about the number of active cases, home isolation patients, vaccination, preparations going on for re-activation of Covid Care Centres, etc, and gave the instructions.
He asked them to submit detailed reports on their activities, preparations and inadequacies to the state principal secretary (health), with a copy to the chief minister’s office.
Everybody should be very careful now as the new strain of Covid-19 is stated to be airborne, he cautioned.
He advised the DCs to properly check whether the home isolation patients are kept isolated from other family members.
He instructed them to bring the home isolation patients to Covid Care Centres if the officials visiting them are not convinced that the family has required amenities like separate toilets and rooms for home isolation.
He also directed them to expedite formation of Covid Awareness cum Enforcement Committees of different Assembly Constituencies and do the needful to re-activate Covid Care Centres at the earliest.
The chief minister stressed on the need to cross-check Covid negative reports for those entering the state from different entry points.
He also instructed the DCs to intensify vaccination, raise more awareness and penalise SoP violators stringently.
