Imphal: Manipur Police continued search operation in different locations of various districts as preventive measures ahead of the upcoming of Republic Day celebration.
The search operation and verification has been intensified in Imphal city area. Various police patrol vehicles were also seen conducting verification as preventive measures.
Some miscreants attacked at the main gate of governor of Manipur with hand grenade on Tuesday evening, which failed to explode. Till date no underground organisation or any individual has made the claim for the incident.
A combined team of district police and commando, Thoubal conducted cordon and search operation (CASO) at Thoubal Moijing Awang Leikai on Thursday.
About 170 houses were searched and a total of around 500 persons were verified. In the operation no person was detained.
Similar CASO was also conducted by a team of district commando, Kakching assisted by lady police commando at two different places of Kakching district.
A team of district commando assisted by lady district commando conducted CASO in and around Kakching Turel Wangma near DSA ground on the same day.
During the operation about 100 houses were searched and all the individuals were verified with necessary document like aadhaar and voter (epic) identity cards. No individuals were detained.
Another police commando team assisted by lady district commando conducted similar CASO in and around at Wabagai bazar. In the operation about 150 persons were verified with relevant identification documents however no individuals were detained.
Police says similar operation will be continuing in the days to come.
