Imphal: Imphal East Police conducted a mass drive on illegal construction at the paddy field in the Jurisdiction of Heingang Police Station since January 5 by Heingang Police following an order of Deputy Commissioner Imphal East district.
The drive was taken up as a preventive measures under the strict supervision of Imphal East superintendent of police as per Manipur conservation of paddy land and wet land Act, 2014.
During the mass drive an eviction at Khabam Lamkhai was ‘successfully’ conducted comprising with SDO/PRT, SDC/HNG and under the strict protection of SP/IE and the personnel of Imphal East Police.
Fifty-four individuals were apprehended, 13 Tata Tipper, four JCB, two Bolero and good numbers of tools which are used for construction of houses are also seized for violating the Act, police said.
The apprehended persons and the seized articles were released after obtaining direction from the district deputy commissioner.
The drive shall continue, police said and appealed all the citizens to bind by the Manipur Conservation of paddy land and wet land Act 2014.
