Imphal: Patient who was declared death at Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) hospital became alive when reached back home and again declared death at Shija Hospital and Research Institute when he was taken there.
The person was identified as one Elangbam Mocha, 16, son of Eningthem from Heirok Part-II.
According to the relatives of the deceased Mocha was injured at his abdomen when a horse kicked on Tuesday. Mocha spent the night with pain at the abdomen. On Wednesday he was taken to community health center, Heirok for first aid.
The doctor of the health centre referred him at district hospital Thoubal. After giving some first-aid Mocha was referred to RIMS or JNIMS hospital.
Mocha admitted at RIMS and the doctor there advised the family member that he needed an operation as there are somedead blood cell in his abdomen. As advised a surgery was conducted at RIMS on Wednesday and later he was admitted at Intensive care unit. The doctor told the family members that the patient need blood and ask to arrange blood. Meantime the doctor from ICU declared Mocha as death at 10.30 am.
A death certificate was issued mentioning that the cause of death was due to ‘Hypovolemic shock due to blunt trauma abdomen’.
Mocha was brought back home for his last rite. In the meantime when the family members and relatives were preparing for the last rite body temperature of Mocha started increasing. When a local nurse checks his condition she told that he has pulse and need to carry at hospital.
Mocha was again carried at CHC, Heirok, the doctor of the center told the family members that as there is no facility for ECG, he has was referred at district hospital, Thoubal at about 3 pm, the family said.
A relativeof the deceased said the doctor of the district hospital referred the patient again at other hospital that has facility for critical health condition patients. Mocha was again carried at Shija Hospital and Research Institute, but when the doctor at the hospital examined the health condition at about4.30 pm, the doctor declared patient as brought death.
