Manipur governor and CM condole on the demise of former Manipur governor Ved Prakash Marwah

Imphal: Manipur governor Najma Heptulla and chief minister N. Biren Singh have condoled on the demise of former Manipur governor Ved Prakash Marwah.

It is indeed a sad news to hear of the sudden demise of Ved Marwah, former Governor of Manipur.  Ved Prakash Marwah was a firm and straightforward seasoned civil and police administrator who had a soft corner for this state. The sudden demise of a very straightforward and invaluable former police chief and civil administrator is an irreparable loss to the country in general and the state of Manipur in particular, Heptulla said in her condolence message.

Heptulla on behalf of the people of the state and on her own behalf conveyed her heartfelt condolences on his sudden demise, “May his departed soul rest in peace.”

Biren in his condolence message said before Marwah he became the governor of the state, he served the Indian Police Service for around 36 years in various capacities in different parts of the country. After his retirement, he served as the governor of Manipur from 1999 to 2003. He also later served as the governor of Mizoram from 2000 to 2001 and the governor of Jharkhand from 2003 to 2004.

As a governor of Manipur, his love for the people and contribution to the overall development of the state is still remembered, he added.

His demise is not only a loss for his family, but an irreparable loss for the entire country. The void created by his demise would be difficult to fill, Biren said.

“On behalf of my government, I convey my deepest condolence and share grief with the bereaved family, and join the family in prayer for peace of the departed soul in God’s heavenly abode,” he said.
