Imphal: Former Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi on Wednesday said he always welcomes any type of investigation and ready to extend full cooperation, as he was summoned by CBI in connection with alleged Rs 332 crore misappropriation case.
He said the CBI officials told him that they were directed to complete the investigation at the earliest and replied to give full cooperation to the investigation.
Ibobi was talking to reporters in Imphal.
He said he is ready to accept any punishment provided by law if he is found involved in misutilusing money from exchequer. He is not involved in misappropriation of the development society fund and everything will be in the record, he added.
Ibobi said it might have been more than two hours he was questioned by the CBI team. They wanted to know family particulars like property assets and bank accounts, and details of PAN and income tax returns. He told the CBI team that he would provide the particulars, he added.
He also asked the media houses to correct his tenure as chairman of Manipur Development Society (MDS) to ‘July 2013 to August 2014’ as against the news publications of his tenure as ‘2009 to 2017’.
Ibobi said he did not take the position as chairman of MDS willingly as it was not appropriate for him. According to MDS rule and regulation chief secretary should be the chairman. Former chief secretary DS Poonia proposed him for the position and accepted it as encouraged by his colleagues, he added.
He said as per rules, he, as a chairman, has no sigficant role accept to chair in annual general body meeting of MDS. Any type of transaction, sanction, withdrawal of funds, etc, were to be dealt by the project director.
During his short tenure as chairman of MDS, Ibobi said, he neither signed any cheque nor any document related to work order or sanction order.
