Pothashang News Service, Imphal, February 7, 2018: Manipur pollution control board will bring out a detailed report by March on the causes and consequences of environmental damages and climate change affecting the rivers and lakes of the state.
Chairman, Manipur pollution control board, Laishram Radhakishore Singh made the statement during the release of the official souvenir titled “Eishu Makhoigumna” of Saksham Manipur Prant 2018 at the auditorium of Nupee Lal Memorial Complex, Imphal in connection with Eye Donation Fortnight Campaign, 2017.
He said the government will try to change the conditions of the rivers and lakes back to the level which was 50 years back. He also appealed the people to cooperate and lend support in the efforts to revive the environmental balance. If man harms the nature, nature too will harm man and so we should use our natural resources wisely and sustainably, he added.
Mass awareness on eye donation movement is required in the state. Though some people are born disabled, their life and contributions are as much valuable as an able person and the important thing is to live together happily, sharing the gift of nature amongst all people, he added.
He also appealed the people of the state to donate their eyes to the needy.
