Imphal, October 3: The Western Sumi Students’Union (WSSU) units and leaders of NSCN IM members yesterday held a meeting at Purana Bazar Council Hall, Dimapur on Naga sovereignty, says a report by Morung Express.
The WSSU along with its ten units and a sub unit took part in the meeting with the NSCN IM collective leadership members led by Q. Tucco, which included Steering Committee Executives, Kilonsers, Deputy Kilonsers, Tatars and others.
According to the report, the NSCN (IM) leaders apprised the WSSU President, Nito Achumi and its members on shared sovereignty which it was working out with the government of India. Tuccu told the student leaders that the ongoing talks with the centre was inclusive of Nagas of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Tucco also informed that the NSCN (IM) would pursue the issue of Nagas of Myanmar with the Myanmar Government after settling the issue of Nagas in the present Indian state with the GoI.
Recently on August 14, vice president of the NSCN (IM), General (Rtd) Kholi Konyak called upon the Naga people to be prepared with all the requisite skill and resources to build our nation.
In a speech to mark the Nagaland Independence Day, General (Rtd) Kholi Konyak said, “Nagas have managed to prove that no outside force could destroy our political right to live as one people, one nation.” The general address was read out by Hukavi Yepthomi, NSCN IM Kilo Kilonser
“The darkest hour is just before the dawn”, solution to the Naga issue will not be the end in itself; rather it will be just a new beginning for Nagas to build our Nation, added the Kholi address.
Convenor of the NSCN-IM Steering Committee, Rh. Raising said, the Framework Agreement is now at the final stage. “Almost 90 percent is completed. We have yet to work on some papers,” added Raising.
Saying that the Frameowrk Agreement of August 3, 2015 is about the recognition of sovereign right of the Nagas, recognition of the Naga identity, about the territory and integration of the Nagas of the NagasRaising said the Agreement is based on the unique history of the Nagas.
