Imphal, September 4: The Meetei Mayek TET Supplementary 2016 Successful Candidates Association, Manipur has cautioned to excercise agitations if the government fails to materialise their demand by September 30.
The teacher aspirants demanded to absorb those who cleared the teachers eligibilty test in government schools immediately and not to take up new recruitment process untill they are emloyed.
The association today submitted a memorandum to chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh.
The teacher aspirants staged a sit-in pressing their demand, at Keishampat and took up a rally to march to the chief minister’s office to submit the memorenadum. Police stopped them on the way and selected five representatives to submit the memorandum.
Takhelambam Tijen, a member of the association told Pothashang, “Metei Mayek is taught in schools from class I to XII. No Meitei Mayek teachers has been recruited so far. For this, Meitei Mayek TET was conducted in 2013 which was however reconducted in 2016”
A total of 1700 candidates cleared the test, many of which are serving in private schools.
The memorendaum submitted demanded to furnish a report for appointment of regular post of Meitei Mayek teacher in education Department (schools), government of Manipur.
The association demanded recruitment of regular government school Meetei Mayek teachers especially for those who havecompleted Meetei Mayek Supplementary- 2016 test with utmost transparency.
It demanded relaxation of D.El.Ed and B.Ed. qualification while recruiting Meetei Mayek Teaches as one time measure especially for Meetei Mayek Supplementary – 2016 Test passed candidates and urges age relaxation upto 45 years at the time of recruitment.
Adressing the demands the association requested the chief minister to consider their memorandum as critical imperatives for the development of the state’s Meetei Mayek langauge.
The memorandum cited that the association had written a letter on May 4 demanding the same, advising to examine and process as per requirement the appointment of regular Meetei Mayek teacher to the concerned Minister and department.
The memorandum also attached a copy of proceeding of a meeting held in November last year at the office of the then education minister with the chief minister which took the resolutions of relaxation of age upto 45 years, consider as a one-time measure especially for those who have completed TET(Meetei Mayek). School Education Department will move the CABINET in this regard, which shall be initiated by Directorate of Langauge Planning and Implementation.
