Imphal: Manipur governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, extending his ‘heartfelt’ regards to the people of Manipur on Khongjom Day, addressed to renew commitment in safeguarding sovereignty and unity of the nation.
In his greetings on Khongjom Day eve, he said the day is observed every year on April 23. It is a tribute to the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifices of our forefathers who laid down their lives for the freedom of our motherland.
Their unwavering patriotism and fearless resistance against one of the world’s mightiest powers remain a source of inspiration for generations. “As we honour the brave souls who fought in the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, let us renew our commitment to safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and unity. This day reminds us to rise above differences and work together towards the progress and well-being of our society,” the governor said.
“May we continue to uphold the values of courage, harmony, and nation-building in our collective journey forward,” he added.
