Imphal: Manipur celebrated Ratha Yatra in a low key in wake of social unrest due to Kuki-zo agression related violence in Manipur,

The Rath Yatra of Shree Shree Govindaji Temple Board was celebrated under tight security at Govindajee Temple, Palace Compound on Monday, followed by a short procession.

This came after unknown miscreants fired two rounds at the Rath Yatra chariot on Friday.

People offered fruits, flowers, and other offerings to the three Lords-Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra at Govindaji Temple by the priest.

The devotees took the three Lords on Rath (chariot), which was drawn by a minimal number of devotees along Palace Gate road, here.

Earlier, the chariot was drawn upto Palace gate, but this time it made a U-turn from the AIR gate, which is around 50 meters from the starting position.

The priest and the traditional orchestra with pung cholom and cymbals performed as usual.

A similar celebration was also seen at the ISKCON Temple, Sangaiprou, Imphal.
