Imphal: Officers of the Division Preventive Force unit, Imphal Customs Division apprehended a woman with her two daughters with semi-finished gold jewelry in Imphal on Friday.
Acting upon specific information, the officers of Imphal Customs Division detained three lady passengers at Canchipur area while coming from Moreh towards Imphal and detected eight gold bangles and two gold chains of semi-finished (rough) form of foreign origin, said a press statement released on Friday.
The total weight of the gold bangles and chains is 415.10 gm. The gold was valued at Rs. 27,21,460, it added.
The accused were Sunita Devi, wife of Inderjeet Chouhan resident of Ward No.2, Dalpatti, Tengnoupal sub-division, Chandel, and her two daughters Indu and Reshma.
The recovered semi-finished gold ornaments were seized at the Customs Divisional Office. The accused have also been apprehended under the relevant section of the Customs Act, 1962, the release said.
