Imphal: Khongnangthaba University celebrated its 3rd Foundation Day on Friday, at its Khurai campus in Imphal East on Friday.
Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor N. Joykumar Singh said in the last 3 years the university has been developing like other universities of the state.
“As a society needs time to bring development, Khongnangthaba University also needs time for its development,” he said and assured that he will bring the university to the top level by putting all his effort. “Tradition and modern technology are needed to uplift the university,” he added.
The event, marked by a series of distinguished speakers and guests, aimed to reflect on the university’s past achievements, celebrate its present successes and envision a future filled with academic excellence and growth.
Registrar of the varsity, Atom Sunil Singh reflected on the history of Khongnangthaba University and highlighted its emergence as the first private university under the Manipur Private University Act of 2021 and recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956, which stands empowered to confer degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956.
He emphasised the institution’s commitment to preserving traditional knowledge, as evident by its registration under the All India Survey on Higher Education and inclusion in the National Scholarship Portal.
Envisioning the future, Atom Sunil announced the university’s application for recognition as an Examination Body by the Indian Nursing Council and the Pharmacy Council of India. These endeavours align with Khongnangthaba University’s commitment to providing quality education and achieving academic excellence. Plans for further construction and accreditation from esteemed bodies like the Khongnangthaba University is set to apply for UGC 12(b) status and accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and membership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) were also unveiled.
On the occasion, the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Barefooter School, Pune. The memorandum aims to offer short-term job-oriented courses and startup training, enhancing the employability and entrepreneurial skills of the youth in Manipur. The collaboration intends to contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the region.
