MHRC chairperson inspects children home

Imphal: Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) chairperson, Justice UB Saha inspected Tabitha Children Home at Mantripukhri, Imphal East on Friday.

A total of 52 children are lodged at the children’s home.

The functionary of the children’s home was briefed about the functioning of the home. Children’s home receives grants from the Ministry of Women and Child Development through the Social Welfare Department. The chairperson appreciated the home for raising funds by selling flowers and stated that the conditions of accommodations being provided to the children are satisfactory.

It is informed that even though MSACS is also providing required medicines to the children, the home has to bear all the expenses if there are other illnesses. Upon learning of the information, the MHRC chairperson assured that the office of the MHRC shall take up the matter with the Health Department. The MHRC chairperson was accompanied by member KK Singh, IGP Mamata and law officer of MHRC during the inspection.
