Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have recovered arms and explosives from two districts on Thursday.
Manipur Police Control Room said, search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal East, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts.
During the search operations one M16 rifle with four rounds in the magazine, one M21 sniper rifle with an empty magazine, three 36 HE grenade without detonators were from Pungdongbam-Sekta-Lousangkhong foothills, Imphal East district.
Two 9mm pistol, two 9mm magazines loaded with 4 live rounds and 2 live rounds respectively, one 9mm pistol empty magazine were recovered from L. Kanan village, Churachandpur district, the police control room said.
It said, during the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic congregation of protestors.
One person, Tongbram Amuba alias Girani, 75, who has been living at P. Sejol village, Churachandpur since 2010 has been handed over to his family members by security forces at Phougakchao Police Station, Bishnupur district, it added.
