Imphal: Security forces have destroyed five bunkers and seven trenches during operations, at Thamnapokpi Uyok Ching hill ranges, Kangpokpi district, under Yaingangpokpi Police station on Tuesday.
Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe
and vulnerable areas of Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur and Thoubal district, Manipur Police Control Room said on Tuesday.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was tense but under control with sporadic incident of firing and congregation of protestors it added.
Three local made mortar (pumpi), twenty-one 12-bore empty cartridges were recovered from Laikha and Mualngat Village in Churachandpur District.
One lady, Kimnelhing Kipgen, 34, daughter of late Onkhohao Kipgen of Leimakhong and presently staying at Sapermeina, Kangpokpi district, was found at North AOC, Imphal by some civilians and was safely handed over to security forces. Further, she is being handed over to her family by security forces, the police control room said.
Movement of 329 and 165 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movenment of the vehicles, it added.
Police detained 307 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
Manipur Police appeals to general public to return the ‘looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
