Imphal: “Shiroi Lily”, a poetry book, which is a collection of 61 different Manipur poems was launched at the auditorium, Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives, Imphal on Saturday.
The poetry book was penned by Umananda Kshetrimayum. Most of the poems describe the beauty of nature which is related to human beings.
Umananda son of late Ksh. Tombi and Khangembam Bino Devi was born on February 10, 1980 at Nongmeibung Chakpram Leirak, Imphal East.
He completed his master’s degree in Sociology at Punjab University and presently serves as chief executive officer at Thoubal Zila Parishad.
With an interest in writing song lyrics, poems he has been writing various songs and poems as his hobby.
“With the love for writing, I started writing poems since my high school life.” He said he has a dream to publish his poems under the title, “Shiroi Lily”.
The idea of putting the title is to bring intimacy between the human and the beauty of nature. There will be always peace in the society if people are aware of the needs of nature in life, he added.
He said he is planning to publish more similar books.
Retired IAS officer, K. Radhakumar Singh; former dean of Humanities, Manipur University, professor Nahakpam Aruna Devi and director, Small Savings, Manipur, Rojendrakar Nongthomba were present.
