Imphal: After 92 days of violence in Manipur, while thousands of state and central forces have already been deployed in the state gunfights are still continuing in the peripheral areas of Manipur.
To defend the villages hundreds of people thronged from different direction at 2nd MR and 7th MR battalions on Thursday.
According to the people there, they thronged at the battalions with a motive to take arms and ammunition to defend themselves from the frequent attack from Kuki militants.
The state forces along with the central forces warned the people to disperse. However people tried to overpower the forces and tried to enter the battalion.
Combined forces fired several rounds of tear gas shell and mock bombs towards both sides along North AOC road. The mob retaliated with slingshots and stones towards the security personnel.
The security forces dispersed the mob towards Kangla Southern gate while another towards Khong Ani Karak traffic point located near Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Women folks of the area blocked NH-2 at Chingmeirong near Vishal Mart by sitting on the road. Later the mob was dispersed.
During the two separate incidents no arms and ammunitions were looted.
Meanwhile, large mob reportedly looted arms and ammunitions from 2nd IRB stationed at Naranseina of Bishnupur district.
