Imphal: Ministry of HRD has informed Manipur government to release Rs 18 crore to promote Manipuri and Meitei/Meetei Mayek in the state, education minister S. Rajen Singh said on Tuesday.
The minister was speaking on the occasion of Hindi Diwas Samaroh, jointly organised by SCERT, Hindi Teachers Training Institute and Hindi Teachers Training College at Dhanamanjuri University campus, here.
There is no harm in learning different languages. Apart from the steps to promote hindi language, the government is trying to promote Manipuri language and other dialects of the state, Rajen said.
Health and education sectors need to be prioritised in order to establish a healthy nation. If there is failure in these sectors the future generation will have no destiny. Good health and education is correlated, he added.
Education department records one of the highest employees in the state. There are still vacancies of teachers and other staff to be filled up in the department. The government is also giving priority to develop education sector in the state. School Fagathansi Mission has been launched as a landmark step in the regard, he said.
He said during the past recent years number of school dropped out students kept on increasing due to inability to afford school fees in private schools. It happened due to the distrust of the public towards government schools. The registration of students to the government schools have been tremendously increased in the recent years, he added.
Rajen also assured to renovate the old building of the Hindi Teachers Training College and also to strengthen the teaching and non teaching staffs of the college through new recruitments.
